Donderdag:
On Saturday, Bush and his father were to go fishing at the ranch's bass pond with a crew from the Outdoor Life Network's "Fishing with Roland Martin."

The White House approached the network about coming to film Bush, who is eager to cultivate an image as a sportsman with the millions of voters who hunt and fish. The crew was to bring its own boat for the shoot on the small pond.

Vrijdag:
Martin, the president and a Secret Service agent trolled for bass Friday afternoon. They rode in Martin's 21-foot boat, powered by a 250-horsepower engine, but in the small ranch pond, they used the boat's outboard trolling engine, Martin said in an interview with The Associated Press.

"The president was very relaxed," Martin said.

The unexpected Friday footage came as the crew was filming at the pond and Bush "came motoring down" in his pickup to chat, Martin said. They discussed the next day's scheduled shoot.

At about 5:30 p.m., Bush looked at his watch and said he had time to "make a couple casts, so we jumped into the boat real quick."

Iraq didn't come up. "He didn't really talk about politics at all," Martin said. "He was just relieved to have a minute to fish."

Zaterdag:
Newspapers throughout the world reflect anguish and uncertainty over the situation in Iraq one year after the toppling of Saddam Hussein's regime and in the wake of the growing violence and kidnapping of foreigners.
President Bush declared that insurgents are 'a small faction' trying to derail democracy in a battle he vowed the U.S. military and its allies will win. 'Coalition forces will continue a multi-city offensive ... until these enemies of democracy are dealt with,' Bush said in his weekly radio address.

Natuurlijk sprak Bush ook met enkele wereldleiders over de telefoon, maar als je een 'war-president' bent, moet je niet de hele tijd op vakantie gaan en doen alsof er niks aan de hand is!
